Olivia graduates in Philosophy, Psychology and Scientific Thought from Leeds University

Please meet Olivia, who has recently graduated from Leeds University after three years of Philosophy, Psychology and Scientific Thought studies supported by the Postal Family Fund University bursary.  We spoke to her postal worker dad, William, about her experience.

Why did you apply for the Postal Family Fund bursary?

We have twins who both started university at the same time.  Lily studying Biochemistry at the University of Sheffield and Olivia studying Philosophy, Psychology and Scientific Thought at the University of Leeds. Like many families, we face financial constraints that make it challenging to fully cover the rising costs of higher education such as accommodation, course materials, travel and living costs.  Especially with two children studying at the same time.

What impact has the bursary had?

The Bursary has been fantastic as it has helped Olivia to cover the costs of studying and living away from home. The studies have meant that she has now gained a degree which gives her better opportunities for the future.

What are Olivia’s plans for the future?

Olivia particularly enjoyed the modules that focused on nutrition and is hoping to pursue a career as a nutritional therapist.

What would you like to say to postal workers thinking about applying for a university bursary?

The bursary really alleviated some of the stress for both ourselves and our children and we would highly recommend the Postal Family Fund to all our colleagues.
