Please meet Phoebe, who was thrilled to get the chance to study China Studies at Xi’an Jiatong University, having been supported through her Business Economics degree by the Postal Family Fund University bursary.
Why did you decide to study Business Economics and apply for this bursary?
I applied for the Postal Family Fund bursary to help support me financially while studying for my Business Economics degree at the University of Liverpool. I chose this course because I have always been interested in how businesses operate and how economic decisions shape industries, markets and people’s lives. My degree has allowed me to develop analytical, financial and problem-solving skills while exploring areas such as economics, finance and business strategy. The bursary helped ease the financial pressures of university, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies and make the most of the opportunities available to me.
What impact has the bursary had?
The bursary has made a huge difference to my time at university. It helped take away some of the financial stress, meaning I could focus more on my studies instead of constantly worrying about money. It also gave me the confidence to think bigger and make the most of the opportunities available to me.
Because of that, I applied to study abroad in China for a year and was successful. I moved there in August, and it’s an opportunity I’m really excited about. I never imagined I’d be doing something like that when I first started university, so I’m really grateful for the support I’ve received.
Would you recommend the Postal Family Fund university bursary scheme to others
Yes, without a doubt. I would encourage anyone who is eligible to apply. University can be expensive, and having that extra support really takes some of the pressure off, allowing you to focus on your studies and make the most of your time at university.
The bursary gave me the freedom to say yes to opportunities that I might otherwise have thought were out of reach, including securing a place to study abroad in China this August. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received, and I hope other students can benefit from the Fund in the same way. It really can make a lasting difference to your university experience.
